BEIRUT — Late Sunday night, an Israeli drone strike hit a motorcycle in Siddiqine (Sour district), wounding the driver, who was hospitalized, according to L'Orient Today's correspondent.
The Israeli army continued attacks on south Lebanon on Monday, following a violent day marked by a series of over 20 strikes that were launched within 30 minutes. Also on Sunday, a drone strike on a vehicle in Bint Jbeil that killed Mohammad Adel Saghir, a Hezbollah member and local municipal councilor.
Early Monday, an Israeli drone dropped a sound bomb on the roof of a house in Yater (Bint Jbeil), causing no injuries. A quadcopter-type drone later fired several projectiles at a water source in Ain al-Miah, in Odaisseh (Marjayoun). The source had been recently restored and sustained material damage.
The Israeli army also fired machine guns at the outskirts of Markaba and Houla (Marjayoun) from a position it occupies on Lebanese territory.
The Bint Jbeil municipality condemned the drone strike that killed Saghir, saying he “fell as a martyr while carrying out his national duty in the service of the people of his city.” The statement added that the killing would “strengthen our commitment to defending our land and people, and to continue the path of resilience and reconstruction to which Mohammad Saghir greatly contributed.”
Despite a cease-fire in effect since Nov. 27, 2024, the Israeli army continues daily strikes on south Lebanon and the Bekaa. Israeli forces also continue to hold positions on Lebanese territory and regularly conduct incursions north of the Blue Line.
