The Mzaar Ski Resort in Kfar Dibian, Kesrouan, which manages one of Lebanon's best-known ski resorts, kicked off its winter season on Friday with a ceremony held near the slopes, attended by Tourism Minister Laura Lahoud.
In her speech, Youmna Rizk, chairwoman of the board of "Tourisme et Hiver Mzaar," announced that the resort was "ready" for the season after investing "three million dollars in its slopes and infrastructure, now renovated."
The management had recently announced the addition of three new runs on its Instagram account. However, the slopes have not yet opened due to an insufficient amount of snow after the season's first snowfall at the beginning of the month.
Also present, Freddy Kiroz, president of the Lebanese Ski and Biathlon Union, spoke about Lebanese skiers participating in the Winter Olympics scheduled for next February in Cortina, Italy.
The last season saw particularly low precipitation and snowfall, which impacted the professionals in the sector, despite efforts in recent years to diversify their activities and sources of income.
