The Israeli army will launch on Monday what it describes as a “planned training exercise” in eastern Galilee, near the border with Lebanon, a day after the assassination of Hezbollah’s military chief, Haytham Abou Ali Tabataba'i, in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, said that Israel might be required to fight again in areas where it has previously operated. “We may have to return to fight in areas where we have already operated. We are preparing for that,” he said, according to Haaretz.

He also stated that Tabataba'i “was constantly working to rebuild the organization and prepare for the next campaign,” stressing that the army “will not allow threats to develop. There will be no restraint.”
