The ministry’s decision drew sharp criticism, particularly from Hezbollah’s opponents.Less than a week after adopting it, Lebanon’s Ministry of Social Affairs, recently renamed the Social Development Ministry, reversed its decision to ease access to disability cards for those wounded in the Aug. 4, 2020 Beirut port explosion and for victims of Israel’s pager attack on Hezbollah affiliates.The ministry, led by minister Haneen Sayed , announced the reversal Wednesday evening in an official statement. The document said no new category can be added to the financial assistance program for people with disabilities outside the criteria already in place.
