Coastal massacres: In Aleppo, a historic trial where everyone claims innocence
The authorities wanted to project an image of impartiality during a first trial in which associates of the former regime and members of the security forces of the new Syria are being prosecuted.

For the new authorities, it's about setting the scene in courtroom number three, on the third floor of Aleppo's heavily guarded Palace of Justice, far from the security risks that might arise from the capital.As a crowd of journalists waits impatiently nearby, members of the military police form a single file interspersed with prisoners in tracksuits, plastic zip ties binding their wrists, then locked up in a caged box.
