BEIRUT — Lebanese Economy Minister Amer Bisat announced Wednesday that Nadim Haddad would be chairman of the Insurance Control Commission (ICC), a regulatory body attached to the Ministry of Economy and Trade, a post that had been vacant for over ten years.
The decision to make the appointment was taken during the Cabinet meeting on June 16, 2025, according to a statement.
Two observers were also appointed to the commission — Yahya Tabboula and Jad Jaber — a first since 2008, the minister said. He hailed this as "a key step in the process of reforming the insurance sector," saying it aims to "strengthen transparency, boost confidence in this vital sector, and ensure the good performance of its players in the service of the national economy."
The newly appointed individuals were selected "based on the strictest criteria of competence and technical expertise, as well as their commitment to integrity and transparency," Bisat added.
