More than 130 international charities, including Oxfam, Save the Children, and Amnesty International, have called for the immediate closure of the Israeli and U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), citing its failure to protect civilians.
Since GHF operations began in late May — following a three-month Israeli blockade — over 500 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 4,000 injured while attempting to access food and supplies, the groups said in a joint statement.
The aid organizations condemned what they described as “routine” shootings by Israeli forces and armed groups targeting civilians at distribution points. “Today, Palestinians in Gaza face an impossible choice: starve or risk being shot while trying desperately to reach food to feed their families,” the statement read.
Children and their caregivers are among the victims, with minors injured in over half of the documented incidents. Human rights groups also highlighted reports of Israeli soldiers admitting they had received orders to fire on aid seekers.
