Israel: 24 killed since start of operation against Iran

The Israeli Prime Minister's office announced Sunday that 24 people have been killed in Israel since the start of the operation against Iran on June 13, according to a statement, correcting a previous count based on figures provided by local authorities. "Since the start of the operation 'Rising Lion' ... 24 people have been killed and 1,272 injured, 14 of whom are in serious condition," the statement said.

Following an Iranian missile strike on June 15 in Bat Yam, in central Israel, the city hall of this locality identified on Thursday the name of a new victim, bringing the death toll from this strike to nine. Still, it had already been included in the total count, it was learned Sunday.

In addition to the nine people killed in Bat Yam, there were four deaths in Tamra (north), three in Haifa (north), four in Petah Tikva, two in Rishon Letzion, one in Ramat Gan, and one in Bnei Brak, cities in central Israel, according to an AFP count based on official data.

Approximately 9,000 people have been evacuated from their homes following Iranian strikes, according to figures provided Sunday by an Israeli military source. In Iran, Israeli strikes have killed more than 400 and injured 3,056, mostly civilians, the Health Ministry said Saturday. The American NGO Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported at least 657 dead and 2,000 injured in Iran, civilians and military personnel.
