The American ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, stated Monday that a building of his diplomatic representation in Tel Aviv was slightly damaged following Iranian strikes on the country overnight. There was "some minor damage due to the shockwaves from Iranian missile strikes near a branch of the embassy in Tel Aviv," he wrote on his X account.

Iran launched a new salvo of missiles on Israel from Sunday night to Monday, in retaliation for Israel's ongoing offensive on Iranian military capabilities. Residential buildings in the center of Tel Aviv were destroyed, as observed by an AFP photographer who saw rescuers inspecting the debris. Residents of this coastal metropolis were repeatedly urged overnight to take shelter after the army announced strikes on the country.

Huckabee specified that the American embassy in Jerusalem would remain closed on Monday as the directives from Israeli authorities to stay near shelters remained "in effect."

After decades of proxy war and sporadic operations, this is the first time Iran and Israel have clashed militarily with such intensity. Iranian missiles had already struck the Tel Aviv region from Saturday night to Sunday, causing destruction notably in Bat Yam, south of the coastal city. American President Donald Trump, a steadfast ally of Israel, called Sunday for both countries to "find an agreement." He added that it is "possible" the U.S. might get involved in the conflict.
