The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) stated that the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza has become a "death trap," citing reports from doctors on the ground reporting "massive casualties" among starving civilians on Sunday morning.
"Deliveries and distribution of aid must be conducted at scale and safely," wrote UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini in a message posted on his X account. "In the Gaza Strip, this can only be done through the United Nations, particularly UNRWA," he added.
