The municipal police of Zouk Mosbeh launched an inspection campaign on Wednesday in several supermarkets and stores in this locality of Kesrouan, as well as in several nurseries, according to a statement.
"These inspection tours will be conducted in the coming days in all neighborhoods and institutions, to ensure compliance with the strictest safety and public health standards," stated the municipality, emphasizing that "these inspections will be subject to regular follow-up."
As for the supermarkets, the municipality's tour "aims to ensure cleanliness, food expiration dates, as well as the identity of the people managing these stores and the compliance of employees with required health and professional standards."
In the visited nurseries, the municipality checked "compliance with legal and sanitary conditions, notably the presence of qualified nurses, surveillance cameras to ensure the safety of children and the regular cleaning of kitchens and sanitary facilities."
At the end of April, the Lebanese Health Ministry announced the closure of a nursery in Zouk Mosbeh, following the death of a four-month-old girl. According to local media, the girl's family released a statement revealing that the child had been transferred from the nursery to a hospital, where the emergency doctor confirmed she arrived "without a pulse and blue." She was reportedly asphyxiated by milk reflux and the obstruction of airways.
