Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi on Saturday called on his American counterpart Donald Trump to "push" for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, where Israel announced it would intensify its offensive.
In his speech in Baghdad during an Arab League summit, Sissi addressed Trump as a "leader who wants to consolidate peace," urging him to "deploy all necessary efforts and put pressure for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip." This would allow for "the launch of a political process" with Trump as "mediator and sponsor," he further emphasized.
