Aoun and Salam condemn Israeli aggression on Beirut's southern suburbs

BEIRUT- President Joseph Aoun condemns Israeli raid on Beirut's southern suburb at 3: a.m. today.

"The Israeli aggression requires us to intensify our efforts to reach out to Lebanon's friends worldwide and mobilize them in support of our right to full sovereignty over our territory," emphasized the Lebanese head of state on the presidency's X account.

The president also stressed the need "to prevent any violations of sovereignty from abroad or insiders who provide an additional pretext for aggression."

"We will work with the government and its president to thwart any attempts to spoil the exceptional opportunity to save Lebanon," he added.

The Israeli air force carried out a strike on Beirut's southern suburbs early Tuesday around 3:30 a.m., resulting in at least three dead and seven injured, according to a preliminary report from the Ministry of Health. According to our information, the raid targeted a building near the Imam al-Kazem mosque in the Sfeir neighborhood.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam followed Joseph Aoun by "condemning," in a statement, the Israeli aggression against Beirut's southern suburbs, which he described as a flagrant violation of United Nations Resolution 1701, affirming Lebanon's sovereignty and integrity, as well as a clear violation of the cease-fire agreements concluded last October.

He also stated he is "monitoring the repercussions of this aggression with the Lebanese Defense and Interior ministers.
