The outgoing Israeli chief of staff, General Herzi Halevi, will fly on Sunday night for an official visit to the United States from Feb. 17 to 20. During this visit, he will meet with the U.S. president, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the commander of the Central Command (CENTCOM), and senior U.S. military officials, according to Avichay Adraee, the Arabic-langauge spokesperson for the Israeli army, on X.
The Israeli army specified that the visit would focus on ongoing strategic and operational issues and the possibilities for developing cooperation between the two countries. Deputy Chief of Staff Amir Baram will replace Halevi during his absence.
Herzi Halevi has been replaced by General Eyal Zamir, who will assume his duties on March 6.
