Representatives from five Arab countries, the Palestinian Authority, and the Arab League issued a joint statement rejecting U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to transfer Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan, declaring their opposition “under any circumstances or justifications.”
This stance comes in response to controversial remarks made last week by the newly elected U.S. president, which sparked outrage across the region. Trump had described Gaza as “an open-air demolition site” before suggesting the forced displacement of its residents to Jordan and Egypt. “We’re clearing it all out,” he stated.
In a statement released following a meeting in Cairo on Saturday, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, along with representatives from the Palestinian Authority and the Arab League, emphasized their commitment to working with the Trump administration toward a “just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East” based on a two-state solution.
