The Palestinian Authority announced Friday that two people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the northern occupied West Bank, where the Israeli military confirmed it targeted a vehicle "carrying a terrorist cell."
"Israel struck a vehicle in the city of Qabatiya, killing two people," the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a brief statement.
The Israeli military confirmed the strike but did not report casualties. "An Israeli Air Force aircraft struck a vehicle carrying a terrorist cell" in the Jenin governorate, it said in a statement.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the strike was carried out by a drone, adding that "occupation forces stormed the city and began search operations."
Qabatiya lies a few kilometers from Jenin, a stronghold of armed Palestinian groups where the Israeli military has been conducting a large-scale operation for four days.
Backed by bulldozers, aircraft and armored military vehicles, Israeli forces launched an operation Tuesday dubbed 'Iron Wall,' two days after a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas took effect in Gaza.
The Israeli military stated that "more than 10 terrorists have been eliminated" so far. The Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah reported at least 14 fatalities since Tuesday.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967.
