A patrol from the Lebanese Army's intelligence directorate arrested on Tuesday an individual named A.H., originally from the locality of Dakoue in West Bekaa, during a raid at his home in the residential complex known as Shtaurama, reports our correspondent in Bekaa, Sarah Abdallah.
The person is one of the main suspects in a case of collaboration and communication with Israel, and represents a valuable catch for intelligence, according to our correspondent's information. His brother, Kh., has been detained for two years for collaboration with Israel.
This arrest comes just a few days after that of another Lebanese, H.A., on Jan. 17, suspected of "communicating with agents of the Israeli intelligence service."
Lebanon and Israel are in a state of war. Lebanese law prohibits any contact with Israel, a crime punishable by imprisonment. Dozens of people have been arrested in the past for "collaboration" with Israel, and court decisions have been issued for up to 25 years in prison. At the end of 2022, Lebanese security forces announced they had arrested 185 people suspected of "collaboration" with Israel since the start of Lebanon's economic collapse in 2019.
