Hezbollah congratulated on Monday "the Palestinian people and their resistance (...) for the great victory" of the cease-fire that took effect Sunday between Hamas and Israel, after more than 15 months of war in Gaza.
"This historic victory is proof that the choice of resistance is the only one capable of confronting the occupation. It is a strategic defeat for the Zionist enemy and its allies," said the party in a statement.
"The cease-fire agreement occurred according to the demands of the [Hamas] resistance and constitutes a victory. It shows that the occupation was unable to achieve its objectives through force (...) The United States is a partner in the crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people," Hezbollah also declared, assuring that it will continue to "support the Palestinian people and their resistance until the end of occupation."
The party also praised the work of the 'support fronts' for Hamas, opened in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen, as well as Iran, for their "essential role in supporting the resistance."
"Hezbollah is proud of this victory in which it took part, thanks to the sacrifices of the resistance and its public in Lebanon," adds the text, which specifies that the party offered in this conflict, which extended to Lebanon, "what is most precious, [the life] of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and that of Sayyed Hachem Safieddine," who was expected to succeed the party leader. The first was assassinated during a massive Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sept. 27, and the latter a few days later.
