BEIRUT — Activities and movements are scheduled to take place on Sunday in Palestinian camps in Lebanon to celebrate the Gaza cease-fire deal, according to our correspondent in the South.
Since dawn, takbeers (calls of "Allahu Akbar") have echoed from the minarets of mosques in Saida and Sour.
Our correspondent outlined a series of activities planned for Sunday:
- A march through the streets of the Shatila camp in Beirut was held this morning.
- In the Mieh Mieh camp, "love checkpoints" will be set up, where flowers and candies will be distributed.
- In the afternoon, a solidarity gathering and celebration are planned in al-Burj al-Shamali camp, while a march will take place in the Burj al-Barajneh camp in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
- In the Ain al-Hilweh camp, an evening solidarity vigil is expected in front of the Khaled bin al-Walid mosque.
However, the Gaza cease-fire was delayed Sunday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced at the last minute that it would not take effect until the Palestinian militant group provided a list of hostages to be released.
