BEIRUT — Unidentified gunmen fired at dawn on Monday at a photograph of Abu Obeida, spokesperson for Hamas’s armed wing in Gaza, displayed in a market in the Nahr al-Bared Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon, reported our regional correspondent.

Additionally, portraits of Hamas leaders assassinated by the Israeli army in 2024—including former political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh and his successor, Yahya Sinwar, who is considered one of the key figures behind the Oct. 7 attacks — were reportedly torn down in the camp's Jar al-Qamar area.

The incident sparked outrage among camp residents and activists, who called for an investigation to identify those responsible. They condemned the act as an attempt to sow discord and an affront to the symbols and martyrs of Palestinian resistance.
