The Syrian Embassy in Beirut announced on Thursday the resumption of work in its consular section starting Tuesday, Jan. 7, after closing its doors on Saturday following the arrest last week at Rafik Hariri International Airport (RHIA) of members of the Assad family possessing “fake passports.”

In a statement published on its Facebook page, the embassy indicated that it will release details on available consular services and their fees.

On Saturday, the chancellery announced the suspension of its consular activities until further notice. A decision that is reportedly related to the fact that the fake passports held by the detained relatives of ousted President Bashar al-Assad could have been issued by the Syrian consulate in Beirut.
