Portraits of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leader Ahmad al-Sharaa have been hung in several towns in northern Lebanon, notably in Tripoli and Minyeh, according to our correspondent. On these portraits, expressions like 'The Conquering Leader', and congratulatory messages for the new command in Damascus following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime are written.

At the Nahr Abou Ali roundabout in Tripoli, a giant portrait of Sharaa has been placed next to that of former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri: on Sharaa's photo, one can read "Congratulations from Bab al-Tabbaneh," and on Hariri's, "We are waiting for you."

The Assad regime fell in Damascus on Dec. 8 after more than 50 years of control over Syria, mainly due to HTS's efforts. Hariri, former leader of the Future Movement, voluntarily withdrew from Lebanese political life in January 2022.
