A Lebanese Army border post was razed to the ground by the Israeli army in the village of Naqoura, South Lebanon, on Saturday. The information, relayed by local media, was confirmed to L'Orient-Le Jour by an informed military source.

According to this source, the Israeli army is acting “with complete freedom and without regard for the directives of the committee responsible for monitoring the cease-fire,” which came into force on Nov. 27 between Israel and Hezbollah. According to the source, Lebanon is reporting these violations to the committee and calling for the cease-fire to be respected.

Israeli troops had also moved into border areas, engaging in battles with Hezbollah fighters. The cease-fire was supposed to lead to a complete cessation of hostilities, a withdrawal of Israeli troops and a deployment of the Lebanese Army south of the Litani River, in accordance with U.N. Resolution 1701, adopted in 2006 to end a war that year.

However, almost a month after the cease-fire, and despite the fact that the monitoring committee, chaired by an American general, has taken up its duties, Israeli attacks continue on a daily basis: Overflying the regions, bombing towns, dynamiting houses, deploying to new areas and attacking the Lebanese Army.

In the afternoon, Israeli artillery also shelled the area around Hanine, in the southern Lebanese district of Bint Jbeil, with at least five shells.
