The French National Financial Prosecutor's Office requested a trial on Wednesday, including charges of corruption and influence peddling, against Culture Minister Rachida Dati and former Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, the public prosecutor's office announced on Friday.
Both deny the accusations. Rachida Dati is suspected of receiving €900,000 from RNBV, a subsidiary of the Renault-Nissan alliance, without performing any actual work between 2010 and 2012, while she was a lawyer and a Member of the European Parliament (2009-2019). This could have been used to conceal lobbying activities in the European Parliament. In this case, Carlos Ghosn has been the subject of an international arrest warrant since April 2023.
