Shortly after 9 a.m., three Israeli strikes targeted the Ghobeiri district in Beirut's southern suburbs and Choueifat Amroussieh, a locality to the south of the Lebanese capital, according to our information and the official National News Agency (NNA). These strikes, two in the same place in Ghobeiri and the third in Choueifat, were carried out barely an hour after a call to evacuate two buildings.
According to NNA, the two strikes in Ghobeiri targeted a building close to the “Rawdat al-Shahidayn” military cemetery. The building identified in red on the map published by the Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avichay Adraee, was indeed close to this location. Videos circulating online and in the media show that several people had gathered in a nearby street to observe the bombing. The agency adds that the bombing of Choueifat Amroussieh targeted an area close to the Dar al-Ouloum school, which also appeared to be close to the threatened building.
In his appeal, Adraee called on the inhabitants of these two regions to “evacuate immediately to at least 500 meters” before strikes on “Hezbollah infrastructures.”
These air raids were carried out at a time when Beirut's southern suburbs have been under daily bombardment since the beginning of the week, and two waves of bombardments had already taken place on Wednesday night. These strikes targeted buildings in Haret Hreik and Burj al-Barajneh on several occasions, after midnight and shortly before 5 a.m..
