Kamal Kharrazi, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, stated on Friday to the pro-Iranian television channel Al Mayadeen that Tehran is likely considering increasing the range of its ballistic missiles, according to Reuters.
Kharrazi also indicated that Iran's nuclear doctrine could change if the country faces an existential threat. This is not the first time he has mentioned this option; he notably did so last May in a statement reported by the Iranian Student News Network and Israeli media.
This new statement follows a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who, during a graduation ceremony for Israeli army officers, outlined his strategy for the war in Gaza and Lebanon, also indicating that Israel's ultimate goal is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
According to Israeli sources, Israel's recent threatening strikes against Iran were aimed at crippling the production of Iranian ballistic missiles. Iran has asserted that these attacks did not reach their targets.
