The Lebanese Red Cross announced on Sunday morning that an Israeli strike in Sarbine, south Lebanon, injured four rescue workers.

In a statement, the organization said it had deployed a team to Sarbine, in the Bint Jbeil district, after a strike hit a house in the village at around 8 a.m. The team was dispatched “after receiving the necessary authorizations from the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).” Two ambulances were dispatched to pick up and move the wounded. Once there, however, “the house was hit a second time” by an Israeli projectile. “Four rescue workers were slightly injured, and the two ambulances were damaged."

The four victims were transferred to the Tibnin hospital in southern Lebanon for medical examinations, and their condition is “not worrying,” according to the Red Cross.

Rescue workers and teams sent to Israeli strike sites in the south and Bekaa are regularly targeted by the Israeli army. Since the start of the war on Oct. 8, 2023, more than 100 doctors and rescue workers have been killed in Israeli strikes, according to the United Nations Human Rights Office on Friday.
