Nearly half of Lebanon's 1.25 million school pupils have been displaced due to the ongoing conflict, a senior official from the Ministry of Education reported on Sunday to AFP. Imad Achkar, the director general of education, stated that approximately 40 percent of students have been forced to leave their homes as a result of Israel's escalating strikes on Hezbollah strongholds.

The situation has led to a significant humanitarian crisis, with more than one million people fleeing their homes in search of safety. Schools across Lebanon are grappling with the impact of these displacements, as families are uprooted and educational continuity is disrupted.

''There are 1.25 million students in Lebanese schools,'' said Imad Achkar, the director general of education, ''and 40% of them have been displaced due to the Israeli bombings.''

Achkar highlighted the dire implications of this displacement on the education sector, emphasizing the urgent need for support and resources to address the challenges faced by both students and schools.
