The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for six strikes against “vital targets” in Israel between the mornings of Sept 22 and Sept. 23, saying their operations were “in solidarity with our people in Palestine.”In a statement, this umbrella group of Iran-aligned Iraqi factions said the strikes came “in response to the massacres perpetrated by the [Israeli] occupation against civilians, including children, women and elderly.” While the group, formed after Oct. 7, has already claimed responsibility for attacks against Israel as part of the “unity of fronts” of the “Axis of Resistance,” this is the first time it has issued this many statements in this short of a period.
