The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a network of militias affiliated with Iran, announced that it targeted the Israeli port of Haifa (in the north) with drones early Wednesday morning. The Israeli army, on the other hand, stated that it intercepted one of these drones "coming from the East" before it entered Israeli territory.
"In continuation of our resistance against the occupation, in support of our people in Gaza, and in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity against Palestinian civilians, including children, women and the elderly, on Wednesday, Sept. 4, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq targeted the port of Haifa in the occupied territories with drones," the Iraqi militia's statement said. "The Islamic Resistance announces that it will continue to strike the enemies' strongholds," the statement continued.
The Israeli army claimed it intercepted a drone heading towards Israeli territory on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. In a statement on X, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee indicated that the drone came from the east of Israel and did not enter Israeli territory. "There were no injuries," he noted.
For several months, Iraqi factions aligned with the "Resistance" axis have regularly targeted Israeli ports and sensitive sites in response to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
