The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, based in Kuwait, is financing the construction of a "state-of-the-art medical center and a specialized center for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts" in Saida, South Lebanon, according to a statement relayed by our correspondent.

The project's first phase was launched on Tuesday by representatives of the charitable association "Jamaa el-Bahr" and the local branch of the Civil Council Against Addiction in Bqosta, northeast of the city, in the presence of MPs Ali Osseirane (Amal) and Ghada Ayoub (Lebanese Forces). Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora also attended. The project was awarded to EBCO Bitar through a tender, as they provided the "lowest bid," according to the statement. No further details on the project's timeline, capacity, or cost were provided.
