BEIRUT — This year, the thousands from the Shiite community who gathered in the southern suburbs of Beirut to commemorate Ashura marched under the photos of more than 300 Hezbollah members killed in the last nine months of the war with Israel.Falling on the tenth day of the Islamic month of Muharram, Ashura is a solemn event mourning the martyrdom of Imam al-Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
