BEIRUT — A military helicopter crashed during a training flight Wednesday evening in Hammana, Mount Lebanon, killing two army personnel and wounding another, a spokesperson for the Lebanese Army confirmed to L'Orient Today.
No details on the cause of the crash were immediately available.
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati's office said in a statement Wednesday evening that he spoke with army commander Gen. Joseph Aoun to gather more details about the fatal crash.
"He offered his condolences for the two martyred officers and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded soldier," the statement added.
In another statement, caretaker Defense Minister Maurice Slim said that the two officers killed were Captain Joseph Hanna and Lieutenant Richard Saab, while the third soldier, who was injured, is Mohammad Saydah.
