BEIRUT — An Iraqi man kidnapped Thursday in Jounieh (Kesrouan) was released Sunday in Baalbeck, the Lebanese Army announced.

The suspected kidnapper and his accomplices posed as  security personnel and abducted the victim from a residential apartment in Jounieh, an army said in a statement, adding that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom from victim's family.

The victim was released on Sunday, following a search of the suspects' hideout in Baalbeck's Sharawneh neighborhood, the statement explained.

When contacted by L'Orient-Le Jour, the Lebanese Army could not immediately provide further information.
