Civil defense fights ongoing wildfire in Chouf

BEIRUT — The Civil Defense is fighting to extinguish an ongoing wildfire in the Chouf village of Mazboud, Mount Lebanon, since Sunday night, according to L'Orient Today's correspondent in the area.

The fire was reportedly spreading quickly.

The Civil Defense tweeted Monday morning that their volunteers from different centers are trying to extinguish the fire.

The head of the Mazboud municipality, Mohamad Younis, told L'Orient Today that he asked the Lebanese Army to intervene and send its helicopters to help control the fire.

Younis also said that the fires have reached olive, oak, and pine trees.
