BEIRUT — King Abdallah II of Jordan received Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib in Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman on Wednesday, where they discussed "brotherly relations" and cooperation between the two countries.

A statement by the Jordanian royal court indicated that the meeting "discussed the historic brotherly relations between the two countries and their brotherly citizens, and the chances of widening cooperation in all fields."

"The Jordanian king affirmed that his country will continuously stand by Lebanon and its brotherly people," the statement continued.

Bou Habib and King Abdallah II also discussed their "international responsibility towards Syrian refugees, especially hosting countries," as well as the latest developments in Palestine.

The Lebanese state estimates that 1.5 million Syrian refugees entered Lebanon following the onset of the Syrian Civil War in 2011.  Jordan currently hosts some 675,000 registered Syrian refugees.
