Netanyahu blasts 'absurd' criticism of legal reforms

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday fiercely defended disputed legal reforms pushed by his government, calling criticism of the overhauls absurd.

"Israel is being constantly... maligned I'm supposed to be some... potentate who's abolishing democracy and all this nonsense," he charged after talks with Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, adding that "this is absurd, it's preposterous."
