BEIRUT — The Lebanese Economy Ministry on Thursday announced a slight decrease in the price of the various Arabic-style bread bundles which, when calculated per gram, translates into a slight decrease in the prices of the small, medium and large bundles.
The latest tariff follows a slight appreciation of the Lebanese lira. The national currency on Thursday evening was trading at around LL80,000 to the US dollar on the parallel market, having hit a record low on Wednesday evening when it was trading at more than LL90,000 to the dollar.
According to a statement issued by the Economy Ministry, a small 354-gram bread bundle now costs LL18,000, compared to LL19,000 for 353 grams on Tuesday.
A medium package of 815 grams now costs LL30,000, against LL32,000 previously for 832 grams.
Finally, a large package of bread, which weighs 1,053 grams now costs LL37,000, against the previous price of LL38,000 for 1,015 grams.
