BEIRUT — Lebanese central bank governor Riad Salameh on Thursday denied charges which a senior judicial source said had been brought against him of money laundering, embezzlement and illicit enrichment.
"As I declared previously, I am innocent of these charges," Salameh said in a text message to Reuters, adding that Thursday's step was "not an indictment."
"I am respectful of the laws and of the judicial system and will abide by the procedure, and as you know one is innocent till proven guilty by a court of law," he wrote.
