BEIRUT — Acting on instructions from Public Prosecutor Judge Ghada Aoun, State Security on Tuesday sealed a Bank of Beirut data center in Mansourieh, just outside the capital, the bank's lawyer told L'Orient-Le Jour.

This measure comes a day after Aoun initiated proceedings against the Société Générale de Banque au Liban (SGBL) and its CEO Antoun Sehnaoui for "money laundering" after failing to meet a deadline she had set for submitting account statements.

Aoun had previously warned she would prosecute any bank that refused to provide her with the account statements of its chairperson and board members, as well as those of its auditors and supervisory committees.

After Bank Audi, which suffered the same fate eight days ago, Aoun took her actions up a notch Monday, ordering the seizure of real estate and movable assets belonging to SGBL and Sehnaoui.

SGBL refuted the accusations against it in a strongly worded statement, calling on the Cassation Prosecutor's Office and the Higher Judicial Council to "put an end to the violations of judge Aoun, who destroys the image of justice and threatens national stability."
