BEIRUT — The leader of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, met Saturday with the former US ambassador to Lebanon, David Hale, to discuss the Lebanese presidential elections and an economic rescue plan, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

During their meeting, Geagea told Hale that "the opportunity today allows the achievement of a radical change which starts with electing a new sovereign president and which includes as a priority an economic reform plan to restore the country and to put it on the path of the rescue," according to the NNA.

On Thursday, Hale met with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and said after that the "political will" to restore Lebanon's economy is missing.

"If this political will is found, I am absolutely confident about the future of Lebanon and absolutely optimistic," Hale added.

For the first time in its history, Lebanon is suffering from a double executive vacancy, which comes on top of an unprecedented economic crisis that has been ongoing for more than three years.
