BEIRUT — Running water has been completely cut off for the past two days in the South Lebanon city of Saida and its surroundings, several residents told L'Orient Today's correspondent in the region.

In a statement, the South Lebanon's Water Establishment said that outage in the running water supply is due to "a stoppage of electricity utilities from which many Lebanese regions suffer, which impacts the institution's infrastructure, the main production stations, wells and all distribution stations."  The establishment also called on users to "ration their water consumption until the power stations are back in operation."

Water cuts have become increasingly frequent amid Lebanon's ongoing economic crisis, with providers often citing lack of electricity and resources, as well as employees' poor working conditions and stolen equipment, as causes of outages.
