BEIRUT — A medical patient's family members attacked a doctor at Tripoli's Islamic Charitable Hospital after a misunderstanding between the two sides, the Health Ministry said Thursday in a statement condemning the incident. The ministry also called on security forces to arrest those responsible for the incident, while a Health Ministry delegation was set to visit the hospital.
The statement did not clarify the reason for the dispute between the patient's family members and the doctor.
In recent months, attacks on doctors and acts of vandalism in hospitals have multiplied, as health care costs increase significantly due to an unprecedented economic crisis. At the beginning of December 2021, Parliament approved a strengthening of criminal penalties for attacks against doctors.
