BEIRUT — A Fatah official was assassinated in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian camp near Saida Monday evening, Palestinian security sources told L'Orient's correspondent in the south.
Here's what we know:
• Said Alaa Eddine, also known as "Abu Nader al-Asous" was reportedly shot by unknown assailants while in one of the alleyways of the camp.
• He was hit by several bullets in the head and various parts of his body, sources in the camp told our correspondent, and later died of his wounds after being transferred to a local hospital.
• Reuters reported that Alaa Eddine had led security coordination among various Palestinian factions in the camp, which has seen intermittent clashes between members of Fatah and allied factions against Islamist factions.
