BEIRUT — Iranian Revolutionary Guard head Hossein Salami claimed Thursday that “100,000 missiles are ready in Lebanon to create hell” in Israel, provoking Lebanese Forces head Samir Geagea to tweet his denunciation.

Here's what we know:

  • Iran’s Tasnim agency reported Saturday that Salami had boasted that with these missiles “Hezbollah is capable of bringing the Israeli regime to its knees.” During a ceremony commemorating Ashura in Baalbeck, Hezbollah’s executive council chairman Hashem Safieddine remarked that “the Resistance has managed to obtain strategic weapons,” and that “the enemy’s attempts to prevent the Resistance from obtaining these weapons and breaking the balance have failed.”

  • “Hezbollah's missiles are directly linked to Iranian strategic interests,” The Lebanese Forces leader tweeted, “which could have huge consequences on the Lebanese people.”

  • “Palestinian fighters are making plans to deliver the fatal blow” to the Israeli regime, Tasnim reported Ismail Qaani, Revolutionary Guard’s al-Quds Brigade commander as saying Friday. Qaani succeeds General Kassem Soleimani, who was assassinated by the U.S.

  • “It should be known that Israel is criminal and that the murder of [Islamic Jihad commander Tayseer al-Jaabari] in a residential area, which resulted in martyrs including a child and hundreds of injured, is a criminal act that can not go unpunished,” tweeted the party’s number two, Kassem Hachem.

  • Hassan Baghdadi, a member of Hezbollah’s central council, warned that the enemy’s commanders will regret any “adventurism” which “will have consequences that are not similar to those of 2006.”
