BEIRUT — A Saudi businessman was kidnapped Sunday in Baalbeck, northeast of Lebanon, leading the Lebanese Army to conduct a search on Monday morning in the Charawne district of Baalbeck, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the area reported.
Here’s what we know:
• The Saudi native, who was identified as H. Sh., had gone to Baalbeck on Sunday to buy land. The reasons and circumstances of his abduction are still unknown. After searching the area following the kidnapping, the army seized weapons and ammunition in the area.
• On July 9, Saudi political dissident Manea al-Yami was killed in Lebanon. Lebanon's internal security forces had said in a statement that the 42-year-old Saudi citizen was stabbed to death by his two brothers, who were arrested and confessed to the killing.
