Ogero announces service outage in Mazraa, Beirut

BEIRUT — A network outage hit the telecommunication center of the Mazraa district of Beirut on Friday, the state-run telecommunications company Ogero announced in a tweet.

Here’s what we know:

    • The company said the outage happened due to "pressure on the [private] generators,” which led to a stoppage of services in the area. Technical teams are trying to repair the breakdown as quickly as possible, the company also said in its tweet.

    • The head of Ogero, Imad Kreidieh, called on state utility Electricité du Liban to provide power for four hours in order to carry out the necessary repairs on the network, he said on Twitter.

    • Telecommunication service outages have become common in Lebanon due to shortages of electricity and the high cost of fuel, an effect of the country’s unprecedented economic crisis.
