EU Elections Observation Mission deploys 16 teams to monitor voting in 13 European countries

BEIRUT — The European Union Election Observation Mission deployed “16 teams to directly observe the Out of Country Voting in 13 European Countries,” Deputy Chief Observer Jarek Domański said Sunday after his visit to the overseas voting operation room at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beirut.

Here’s what we know:

    • In addition to observing the overseas ballot “between 7:00 and 22:00 [Beirut] time,” the EU EOM is observing the monitoring process at the operation room and will “be present at the counting and tabulation of the ballot boxes coming from abroad on May 15,” Domański’s statement added.

    • An assessment of the overseas ballot will be presented in a press conference on May 17, Domański said, adding that “15 teams of long-term observers have been regularly reporting from all electoral districts in Lebanon since mid-April.”

    • The deputy chief observer said that “170 observers will be deployed all over Lebanon” during the May 15 parliamentary elections.
