ELECTIONS 2022

Two more electoral lists registered in North Lebanon I, one of them led by Bahaa Hariri

BEIRUT — Two more electoral lists were formed in the North Lebanon I district in Akkar over the weekend and on Monday. One is led by Bahaa Hariri, the brother of Future Movement leader and former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who withdrew both himself and his party from this year’s parliamentary polls.

Here’s what we know:

    • On Saturday, Sawa Li Lubnan, a new movement headed by Bahaa Hariri, formed an electoral list in Akkar by the name “al-Nohood Li Akkar” or “the Advancement of Akkar.” This list comprises seven candidates: Wassim Merabi, Mahmoud Hadara and Saadallah Hamad running for the Sunni seats, Hisham Shabib and Nafez al-Warraq for the Orthodox seats, Tony Khoury for the Maronite seat and Mohsen al-Hussein for the Alawite seat.

    • On Monday, also in the North Lebanon I constituency, Nahwa al-Mowatana registered its electoral list; however, this list is still incomplete and with only six members. Running for the Sunni seat on Nahwa al-Mowatana list are: Ahmad Mustafa, Ghaith Hammoud and Rola al-Murad, while Michel Taoum and Nazih Ibrahim will run for the Orthodox seat, and Ralph Daher will run for the Maronite seat.
