BEIRUT — Four depositors from the group Cry of the Depositors filed a complaint Monday against all former and current members of Banque Du Liban’s Central Council since its head, Riad Salameh, was appointed in 1993. The complaint also included Salameh, government commissioners at the Central Bank and seven banks that the complainants had deposited money with, Rami Olleik, one of the depositor’s lawyers, told L’Orient Today.

Here’s what we know:

    • The complaint alleges that the accused are guilty of "breaches of the obligations of their functions, gross negligence in the management of a public service and squandering of public funds.”

    • A copy of the complaint seen by L’Orient Today revealed that the banks involved are Fransabank, Bank Audi, Bank Med, Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries, Credit Libanais Bank, Bank Libano-Francaise and Byblos Bank.

    • Earlier today, Judge Ghada Aoun, the top prosecutor in Mount Lebanon, ordered the seizure of real estate assets belonging to Raja Salameh, the brother of Banque du Liban Gov. Riad Salameh, who was placed in custody late last week.

    • On Thursday, Raja Salameh was detained upon the orders of Judge Aoun, who reportedly charged him with “complicity in illicit enrichment” that also allegedly involved his brother, Riad Salameh.

    • Also on Monday, Judge Aoun charged Salameh with illicit enrichment, adding to the number of investigations he is facing.
